The Vivek Express: Exploring India's Longest Train Route
The Indian Railways, one of the largest railway networks in the world, has several long train routes. The longest train route in India is covered by the Vivek Express, which runs from Dibrugarh in the northeastern state of Assam to Kanyakumari in the southernmost state of Tamil Nadu. This train covers a distance of approximately 4,273 kilometers and takes around 82 hours to complete its journey.
The Vivek Express, also known as the Dibrugarh-Kanyakumari Vivek Express, is a weekly train that passes through eight Indian states and connects the northeastern part of the country to the southernmost tip. The train passes through cities such as Guwahati, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, Vishakhapatnam, Chennai, and Trivandrum, among others. It is equipped with various facilities, such as air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned sleeper coaches, a pantry car, and on-board catering services. The Vivek Express is not only the longest train route in India but also one of the longest in the world.
